Android Stick

Android Stick

Android computers-on-a-stick just keep getting smaller, cheaper and more functional. An upgrade to the Android 4.0 Mini PC MK802 we reviewed earlier this year, the second-generation MK802 II provides a slightly faster processor, an additional micro USB slot and a male HDMI out jack in lieu of the female mini-HDMI port on its predecessor. At just $55, is this USB key-size computer good enough to serve as a set-top box for consumers or as a pocket-friendly PC for early adopters?

Design

Just 3.5 X 1 X 0.25 inches thick and a mere 1 ounce, the MK802 II is lighter than many USB flash drives and, with its rectangular shape, could easily be mistaken for one. Compared with its 3 x 1 x 0.4-inch predecessor, the Android 4.0 Mini PC MK802, the MK802 II is noticeably thinner, but just a little bit longer.

Great for HD video and stereo music, and comfortable for reading, it is a tough, affordable, pocket-size tablet PC. DO LIST Comfortable for reading or viewing and weighs only 0.9 lbs Android™ 4.0 OS and four point capacitive touch for multi-player gaming Rich HD video with 720p playback Bright 350 nits HD display for easy viewing even when outside Front and rear webcams for taking photos and crystal-clear video chatting Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB port, microSD card reader Dual stereo speakers Up to 8 hours battery life with 3G connected Access to thousands of apps via Google Play and the Lenovo App Shop, which includes apps optimized specifically for Lenovo tablets. Built-in AGPS for effortless navigation Internal roll cage protects against drops The Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 also has something the mighty Google Nexus 7 lacks - a microSD memory card slot. There are more models planned than the average 7-incher too, with both Wi-Fi and 3G models on the cards, and multiple storage options. 4GB, 8GB and 16GB editions are reportedly all on the cards, although we'll eat our iPads if all six make it to the UK. Screen What's less likely to get sorted, though, is the screen. Its 7in display uses a 1,024 x 600 pixel resolution, which isn't great but is the same as the Samsung rival and the Amazon Kindle Fire

WAE Speakers for Android

WAE Wireless Speakers

The first thing you notice about the WAE speaker is its modern and ergonomic design, and the chrome-like
effect used throughout. Both the front and back of the device have a grille which house the powerful speakers, and a variety of connectivity and power ports on the back are the only other noticeable design inclusions.
Encased in the fingerprint-loving handle are two basic volume controls and a power button at the bottom.
Connecting to the device via Bluetooth is easy enough, and the speaker is quick to pick up on any music track you’re currently playing. Sound quality is fantastic throughout, and really works well with the aesthetic
qualities of the actual speaker. Its portability means you’ll be able to use it whenever and wherever you want.

Nexus 4

Nexus 4

The only possible limitation here for some will be individual file upload size limits, which are set at 250MB a piece. Some other services don't have restrictions on file size, but it's hard to fault Box.net for this. It's understandable that with free accounts it'd limit users from taking up serious amounts of bandwidth moving large files around. There has to be a tradeoff somewhere, and this is it for Box. Luckily if you're interested in even more storage, personal paid accounts have this limit increased to 1GB per file.

It's hard to find something in the Box.net app and service that would turn anyone away. And when new Nexus 4 users can have 50GB of storage for free (instead of 5GB for everyone else), there's a whole lot to like here. The quality app and ample free storage could be enough to make some people consider switching over to the service as a primary storage solution. For those of us still entrenched with another, there's no reason not to take advantage of the free storage for a secondary or backup account.

HP Slate 7

HP Slate 7

What do you do if you've long since past being a laughingstock in the mobile business? You failed at Windows Mobile. You bought Palm and put webOS out to pasture. And now, if you're HP, your first real foray into Android is a tablet that's nice from afar, but far from nice.

Such is the HP Slate 7.

Android Central at Mobile World Congress

Let's be perfectly clear about one thing: Pick up the Slate 7, and you're holding a tablet that feels like it could easily go toe to toe with the Nexus 7 or any of Samsung's 7-inch-ish tablets. It's nicely built. It's less than half a millimeter thicker than the Nexus 7. Priced at $169, it could sell. Hell, it probably will sell. Stick it in every brick-and-mortar store next to a Nexus 7, and chances are most normal consumers won't notice a difference, save for the price tag.

Motorola Xoom

Google hires former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki to help turn around Motorola

In an effort to save the sinking ship that is Motorola Mobility, Google could be enlisting some help from author/motivational speaker Guy Kawasaki — a turncoat once known for being the Apple evangelist for many years, only to switch over to “Team Android.”

“Motorola reminds me of the Apple of 1998: a pioneer in its market segment, engineering-driven, and ripe for innovation. I believe that great products can change everything.”

Apparently, Guy will be taking on more of an “advisory role” with the company, focusing on key areas as product design, user interface, marketing and lastly, social media. To kick things off, Mr. Kawasaki has created a Google + community for mobile device talk and while the focus isn’t necessarily that of Moto devices, you can bet he’ll use some of these ideas to help with the rumored Motorola X Phone he’s more than likely already working on.

As for Motorola, they need all they help they can get. Their current track record had them continually posting operating losses in 2012, so Kawasaki definitely has his work cut out for him. What do you guys think? Can Guy really turn around things for Motorola? What key areas does Motorola need help with before you’d purchase one of their products?
